some people like rock because of some of the good lyrics...(though stereotypically, its always about pain or suicide )..

but if u listen to ppl like system of a down (who've done a track with wu-tang clan)...you see some pretty deep thought..

i can listen to a bit of rock...but nothing like the thrash metal ear-screeching, alien-resembling metarial...

yes its all upto personal preferences, i somtimes wonder how people put up with classical music or opera singers!

it's about the mood. i can listen to rock like Linkin Park or System of a Down. it's about the message. and the mood.

urm itz cos rokz been arnd longa den hip hop

and rock encompasses A LOT of genres..

system of a down is considered rock - ok fine..
amanda marshall is considered rock (softrock)
linkin park/limp bizkit is considered rock (raprock)

these are just a few...ther's alternative rock, metal, thrash, glamour, a ton of crap...

where as hip hop is composed of fewer subgenres - i.e. hip hop (dre, ice cube, em, jay) and hip pop (chingy, 'joc, etc.)

well hip hop as other sub genres like u know GANGSTA RAP.. SPOKEN WORD n u know lot of em other shit

yeah...but to the public eye...its all just "hip hop"...

maybe gangsta rap deviates enough for people to differentiate..



but if u ask the common person about the subgenres of rock...i'm sure
they'd give u more than if u asked them to give u subgenres of rap.

Well I spin on some R&B tracks (e.g. Tyrese sometimes.) when I feel low or some. But mostly never listen to any other genres when I'm listenin to music. But just to be not ignorant (that's a serious issue when the girl alongside ain't into hip-hop man) to those, I sometimes listen to some sh!ts and I gotta admit that some of em don't sound crap to my ears. And well I kinda avoid Gangsta rap too unless I'm in an eye-for-an-eye mood.

Personally, I'm all rock, rap and hip hop. Not the hard metal rock though, I can barely understand hat they're saying there. And not exactly the Dashboard Confessional-type either. I like them deep tracks that got some meaning or something I can relate to when I'm down or either way too elated for rap. Lol. Yeah, rock helps me when I'm in a gloomy or thoughtful mood, or maybe just plain pissed off and need to get shit outta my system that rap can't help me do at times. So yeah, rock is good, and how can you hate all-time faves like Linkin Park or Shinoda's side project Fort Minor? Loll. Alternative, Punk, all on the line of hip hop and rap when it comes to my personal type of music.

Anyhow, on a sidenote, has anyone been watching/listening to some of the songs now-a-days? It gets me so pissed off to hear these shit songs on the radio that have no meaning or message WHAT SO EVER!! I wonder how they're permitted to write/record those horrible songs.
